History

Following the incorporation of the church in 1978, our experience has been that available funds for community projects have always been limited. Several applications have been made over the years for grants from various charitable foundations with limited success due in part to intense competition by other charitable organisations from across the nation. The increasing cost of living for families generally has further curtailed donations to charitable service organisations and so the need to raise funds for community projects from our own resources became apparent.

Recognising that God had generously endowed his people with creative gifts and generous hearts, our congregation felt led to initiate an opportunity shop as a first step toward raising funds for community projects.

The Lord has graciously blessed the efforts of volunteers, donors and the loans of supporters - within 12 months the shop was self funding!

As a minimum, a tithe (10%) of all gross income is donated out into community and offshore missions. Funds from the opportunity shop have also been invested into the development of other income generating enterprises such as NewLife Transfers, in order to multiply them for community benefit and charitable purposes.

James 2:15 Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food.
James 2:16 If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?
James 2:17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
James 2:18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.
