Service Capability

Emmanuel Community Centre is designed to support the delivery of services and development of programs.

• Provide a flexible site for the delivery of community support programs and a meeting place for the local community

• Increase employment opportunities for local people through jobs created in the constructions phase and the employment of local residents in administration, child care, youth work and training roles within the centre

• Facilitate increased community access to a range of family-focused health, education, welfare and crisis support programs that are currently not available in the local community

• Promote a strengths- based approach to program development that values individuals as active participants in community development processes rather than passive recipients of services

• Provide residents with new opportunities for training, leadership and volunteer programs

• Facilitate partnership opportunities between government agencies and the community including an increased range of government funded services from agencies such as Adelaide Hills Community Health Centre

• Foster the development of social enterprise projects through the provision of training, support and access to the childrens play café and the community kitchen and other opportunities

• Provide a venue for local businesses to utilise for conferences, events, seminars and meetings

• Facilitate recreational, personal development and career training opportunities for young people

• Establish a well equipped IT and multi-media suit for the provision of IT and professional development training

Country Life Community Care has adopted a partnership approach in the development of the centre. The proposal has resulted from calls within the community and from service providers to respond to significant gaps in community service in the local region. As an enterprise, the Emmanuel Community Centre will be sustainable because local partner agencies have made a commitment to utilise the facilities and offer community service and education programs.

In addition to the community café, childcare, IT and education programs offered by Country Life Community Care, the partner agencies will offer :

• Food and nutrition courses;
• Parenting skills and education;
• Vocational training, business training and networking;
• Fitness and recreation;
• Community transport services
• Youth work programs
